Topic: 335 used on 'Stop'

Hey all.

Does anyone know what year or model 335 Joe uses for the first half of the solo in 'Stop'.  In this video of him in the studio it is a black one, i guess that is the one he used on the recording.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jMXXnLSRdBE

Thanks

Thankyou very much!

Re: 335 used on 'Stop'

Its a personally signed BB King from BB himself..  Its one of my most prized possessions. I used to tour with it.. but it was too risky after awhile..
thanks Joe B

Man did it ever sing beautifully on Asking Around though...

Re: 335 used on 'Stop'

I heard some crazy rumor that BB King only signs Gibson stuff. If it says Fender he won't sign, says it is for endorsement reasons. Anyone else heard this? I don't know whether it's true or not, just heard it a couple of times.

Weird on me, I thought someone had already mentioned that so I didn't mention it myself...  Thanks!

Isn't Lucille a 355?

It's true Deezer. Saw him last December in BB Kings in NYC and after the show he announced that he would sit for a while and sign autographs and then said "And don't bring me anything Fender to sign I won't sign it. I work for Gibson".
BB is serious about it.

I'm no expert Jim but for some reason I think Lucille is a 355 with no F-holes.

Yes, technically it is a 355, but "just" a Lucille...
I'm no expert either, unless you mean how I continue to establish my dyslexia, especially with doggam numbers...
No f holes, but still semi-hollow  It's "evolved" and new features added, so let's add some numbers to it! Works for everything from movies to software, to....guitar models! I know this, Lucille is a lady, as far as guitars go, whether the inspirational namesake was or not.  I loved hearing Joe's solo on it during STOP!.  I had pictured Joe playing upon her for my first hearing of the first solo, and he blew me away with his amazing-best I've ever heard, "ghost" of BB King. Some chump reviewed it as sounding SRV like roll . No disrespect to Steve Vaughn, but it was baffling ta me and even more than ironic Joe raised a "ghost" of a still-living legend.  Listen, and L cool cool K at Joe play this solo...closed eyes actually for maximum effect as Joe really handles the gal differently than BB  (not as rough tongue ) but gets the same precise results....maybe it's all in the on the money BB facial expressions big_smile -Really, really, truly great Joe.  I sit in awe!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jMXXnLSRdBE   and the second solo, and outro, and singing amazing also.  Wow!

Re: 335 used on 'Stop'

No it has a varitone switch and stereo output jacks just like the 345, and big block inlays on the fret board.  B didn't have the sound holes on his because at high volumes it would feedback more.  In his time feedback was considered a bad thing.  The Gibson site has it listed as a 335 but if you look at the 345 which Gibson currently doesn't make anymore you'll see that B.B.'s original guitar was a ES-345 and his current guitar has all the same features as the 345.  There is no difference body wise between a ES-335 and an ES-345, only cosmetics and the electronics are different.
