Topic: Eddie Hazel WOW!

This guy deserves his own thread!!! Keith, from Across the Universe, dropped this guy in the "What are you listening to" thread and OMG!! He is from "back in the day"..Funkadelic..George Clinton..You know the era..You've got to listen to Maggot Brain..Nasty title but great song...guitar solo ess. for the entire song..It's beautiful!! Lot of youtube offerings..If you go to the other thread you can click and listen!!  Amazing stuff...Joe could slay this song..    Cathy

Re: Eddie Hazel WOW!

Yeah Maggot Brain is just plain SICK! I always thought it was the Isleys Brothers.

Here's some linkage.  Is he still alive?  Keith? Anyone? Guess I could do a search.

I'm really digging the version from Maryland 1983(of course)..Is that a Gibson? I like the tone not a shrill...This guy is addicting..It takes me FOREVER to get the whole thing into my computer! Well worth it though..   Cathy

Re: Eddie Hazel WOW!

I'm not kidding when I say "Maggot Brain" has to be in my alltime favorite songs...that solo just dropped my jaw....there comes along a song that grabs and shakes you so hard they leave you reaching for the right words to describe how you feel...."The River" does that to me also...still looking for the words....I guess Micheal Hampton joined Funkadelic at the age of 17 , just like Eddie...they let him in after playing "Maggot" note for note...wish I had seen a live show

Re: Eddie Hazel WOW!

Anyone know how to get a cassette into their computer?   Well I guess a start would be a home cassette player, which I don't have.  Gonna hit it hard in the car tomorrow.

Yeah poor Eddie was doing time and Clinton...well never mind.  Let's just say a tortured soul now at peace.

Thanks Jeff, that was cool...speaking of Eddie Vedder...I had a guy who worked on my route until just recently...he is the biggest Pearl Jam fan I've ever met...said he quit a job years back and followed them around for a couple of years...I asked him if he was a roadie or what..he said something like..."nah maan...I was just kind of there"...I'm thinking ***I got it Tommy Chong, you were just there...uh huh***.....oh and I cant wait for "maggot' to show up in my mailbox...you still the man!!
