Guitarist Joe Bonamassa at the Webster
BY ERIC R. DANTON

Teenage blues guitarists
were all the rage a few years ago: Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Jonny Lang, Shannon
Curfman, Joe Bonamassa. Now they're all grown up and mostly missing in action.
Not Bonamassa. (Nor Lang, really, but he's not on tour right now.)
The Utica, N.Y., native is a blues player with a rock sensibility. He has
interpreted an eclectic array of tunes on his records, including Jethro Tull's
"A New Day Yesterday," Free's "Walk in My Shadows" and Freddie King's "Pack it
Up." Bonamassa is also an advocate of blues education, and he often visits
schools while on tour to talk about the music and its role in American culture.
He performs Friday at the Webster Theatre, 31 Webster St., Hartford. The lineup
also features the Kathy Thompson Band, Draught, A.D.D. and Cosmos. Tickets are
$10; doors open at 7 p.m. Information: 860-525-5553.
