Re: ANGUS YOUNG is 50

Hallo Michael,

I don't know if he has a house in Amsterdam, I don't think so'.

Angus and his wife Ellen van Lochem live in Aalten, a little village 7 miles from Winterswijk where I live. They built a new house last year, the biggest in Aalten but very beautiful in old style.
In the basement there is a very professional studio.
They let it built by constructors, carpenters etc from the village and just around. Can send you a picture if you like.
Angus wife is very nice and ordinary, Angus too. Walk in the village, do shopping just like everyone.
Last year Mick Jagger was their guest and they had a meal in a local restaurant without
bodyguards etc. The owner couldn't believe his eyes!! Mick jagger and Angus Young in his pub for a normal meal! No fuzz at all.
Angus wife Ellen is very nice too. I met het when I was 19 and she dated a friend of mine. Every weeken we met het and her 2 girlfriend in a alternative disco in Eibergen. On my 20th birthday she was at my party too.
The relationship with my friend came to an end and she moved to Amsterdam I think.

Years later we heard she married Angus!!!!!!!!

They live in Aalten now bwcause that's Ellens place of birth'but they have sevearl houses all over the world.

I'm not an AC/DC man but Angus and Ellen are great people. You recognize them fast, he's short and she's tall.
Antoher friend of mine Johan, Bonamassafan too, met them not long ago and they still talk to him as Ellen did 30 years ago.

Michael do you know Angus personally? I can send some flowers to him tomorrow if you like, if they are in Aalten of course.

That's my story from Angus.

Andre Wittebroek.

Re: ANGUS YOUNG is 50

Wow.  At first I was in shock that he's 50.  Then deeper shock set in when I thought about it and realized that I'm really not THAT far behind him. yikes  I guess then he was about 25 or so the first time I saw him.  Dang.  Where is time going?????

Happy Bday Angus!

Re: ANGUS YOUNG is 50

Ah, AC/DC, my favourite band ever until last year when i heard a certain Mr Bonamassa. A Big Happy Birthday to Angus anyway, a fantastic guitarist and one who has probably had the most influence on my playing. Also probably a big factor into why i have an SG lol.

Nice story Andre, it's cool to hear that Angus lives so close to you. If you ever bump into him, ask him about the new album lol tongue

Matt

Re: ANGUS YOUNG is 50

Happy Birthday Angus my favorite schoolboy in rock. No doubt Angus and Malcolm were influenced by their older brother George who had a hit record in 1966 with The Easybeats from Australia, anybody remember Friday On My Mind? George and his bandmate Harry Vanda produced the early AC/DC albums as Vanda & Young. I've always been a Bon era purist even though I dig Back In Black since it was pretty much written before Bon's passing.

Re: ANGUS YOUNG is 50

Happy B-Day......... ANGUS..........ANGUS.........ANGUS........ANGUS (Wanna tell ya' story).........ANGUS ( 'bout a woman I know).......ANGUS(Ahhhhh cum to lovin')......... ANGUS (gonna steal the show).........ANGUS (Ain't exactally pretty).........ANGUS  (ain't exactally small)........ANGUS  (42-39-56, you could say she got it ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLL).

My first love of ROCK N ROLL waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back in '77 (wholly smokes I'm gettin' old also).... THE GREAT AC/DC.  Seen 'em every tour since POWERAGE (Their best album by the way).  From the "Day On The Green" at the Oakland Colisium (sorry about the spelling ,I'm drunk) back in '78/ The Powerage Tour to the Oakland Auditorium (Henery J. Kaizer now)/ The Highway To Hell Tour to the Cow Palace/The Back In Black and For Those About To Rock Tours all the way through Stiff Upper Lip.

Rumor has it they are in the studio now for a possible final at bat. Andre, can you confirm this?

P.S.   Michael- AC/DC is, for some reason, not avalible on I-Tunes.......Go figure, one of the biggest band in the world but not on I-Tunes, at least not the last time I checked.

I better stop now while I'm behind......................................R.P.

Re: ANGUS YOUNG is 50

Randu!!!! I'm still kickin' myself in the butt for not goin' with a guy I worked in Berkeley back in '76 to see them at The Old Waldorf in The City. Remember that club? It was Bill Graham's place before he opened Wolfgang's on Columbus. I coulda seen them in a club and I missed it!!!!!!

Re: ANGUS YOUNG is 50

Powerage is my favourite AC/DC album too. It does have a "blue" feel to it. Bon Scott was a lyrical genius.

Incidently Angus Young was 42 when AC/DC last released a studio album!

Re: ANGUS YOUNG is 50

J Dawg- I do remember The Old Waldorf (The Punch Line comedy club now) I've seen a few shows in there back in the day, the bay areas own Y&T after the release of Earthshaker when they were first getting off the ground and that Swiss AC/DC sound alike band Krokus.

There is a bootleg out there of that AC/DC show from the Old Waldorf.

And your right Angus is 53.

Re: ANGUS YOUNG is 50

Here's another from here in San Jose.

I've seen these guys live and they really get the party started. They were playing the Bone Bash last summer while Pat Travers was playing on the main stage. More people were diggin' these guys than Travers. They finally had to cut them off so everybody would go to the main stage to watch Kenny Wayne Sheperd.
